Professional Audio Designs Case Study

How Netmaker helped enhance audiovisual services with remote monitoring capabilities
Setting the Stage
When you walk into the Bradley Symphony Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, you'll be greeted with beautiful vaulted ceilings, ornate decorations, and classical portraits lining the walls. Every year, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra performs here for thousands of guests. If you attend one of these performances, you may not see the work of Professional Audio Designs, but you will certainly hear it.

Their work takes place long before the music is played, and is the culmination of careful work on the architecture, design, and integration of components in order to create the perfect soundscape.
About Professional Audio Designs
Professional Audio Designs provides Audiovisual services to a diverse portfolio of clientele across North America, from performing arts centers, to academic institutions, to corporate offices. They design, deploy, and manage systems which provide elegant and functional audiovisual capabilities within designated spaces.

They have been at this work for decades, and each project requires a diverse team of engineers, designers, and more. The work is not simple. On a given project, Professional Audio Designs may deploy hundreds of devices in order to create an exceptional audiovisual experience.
The Challenge
As a company that prides itself on the high quality of its services, Professional Audio Designs decided to enhance their offerings by providing active monitoring of all these deployed components. That way, if any piece is ever to fail, they can be instantly alerted, and resolve the issue remotely, without the customer having to lift a finger.

Such a system required a fast, reliable, and flexible networking solution, which would allow their engineers to reach devices for management, and integrate those devices into their cloud management solution.

Previously, Professional Audio Designs used Remote PC to access devices at customer sites. However, this solution did not allow for the sort of active monitoring they required, and was fairly limited. They evaluated ZeroTier and Tailscale as potential solutions, but neither provided everything they were looking for: fast, reliable connections, flexible deployment, and integration with a diverse array of systems. Enter Netmaker.
The Solution: Netmaker
"We really liked the peer-to-peer design of Netmaker. It was easy to set up, and performed significantly better in terms of bandwidth. It integrated with all our systems, and allowed us to set up connections to all the ports and sockets we needed. With Netmaker, we were able to provide active monitoring to all our job sites, allowing us to be proactive about any issues with the equipment."
Netmaker also made it easy to get their service team connected to the sites.
Results & Benefits
"It's super easy to set up for less technical people, and we love the access controls. It just works, and helps our team to work remote. We find we need to travel to job sites far less frequently, thanks to Netmaker."
This has not only saved their team time, but reduced the time to resolution of issues, allowing Professional Audio Designs to work with more customers, with a higher quality of service, while being completely remote.

To sum it up:
"Netmaker has provided a significant ROI for our company, both increasing the value of the services we provide to customers, and enabling remote operations for our team."
