Netmaker has just released v1.2, which greatly enhances the reliability and performance of your system, and adds some new features you won’t want to miss.
In previous versions, you would assign a single network node as Failover, to relay any failed p2p connections. This has been replaced with an Auto-Relay flag on Gateways. Gateways by default will auto-relay traffic, and multiple Gateways perform this action, making this feature Highly Available. The fastest available gateway (latency optimized) will be chosen by default.
In addition to automatically relaying traffic when necessary, you can continue to manually assign peers to a gateway, so that their traffic is always relayed. However, now, if a gateway becomes unreachable, your relayed peer will automatically route through a different, latency-optimized relay.
Netmaker will now automatically route your Egress traffic through the fastest available egress node.
Netmaker now has DNS search domain functionality. This means you can connect to peers using simple device names, as opposed to FQDNs. Example: node-1, rather than node-1.netmaker.corp.com
A new user role of Auditor has been added, which grants read-only access to Netmaker, giving a user visibility into the network without the ability to modify it.
These major updates come on top of several other enhancements and fixes, including improvements to the onboarding workflow, device approvals, metrics, and more. You can view the full release notes here: https://github.com/gravitl/netmaker/releases/tag/v1.2.0
